2012 Resolutions | Steve
Happy 2012! We hope everyone had a safe and happy New Years celebration and are ready to make this new year better than the last. In the spirit of starting off 2012 with a bang, we thought we’d share some of our new years resolutions as a couple:
1. Working out together
We have tried working out in the past, and it hasn’t worked out all that well for us because of our “different” workout personalities. I enjoy doing free weights and using the various machines around the gym. Sharon, on the other hand, enjoys high intensity group classes. Us working out together is basically Sharon becoming VERY competitive and creates so many challenges (OK lets see how many burpees we can do in a minute) which on occassion has led me to pick her up and put her in a distant corner of the gym. So, for the past couple of years I do my weights/gym thing and Sharon does her muay thai/yoga thing.
This year, once a week we will try to get together to either do some weight training or a new activity (Sharon is obsessed with circus arts classes…she secretly wants to be an acrobatic/trapeze/trampoline superstar)
2. Invest in memories
This is the start of our fifth year together as a couple. We have spent loads of money on gifts for each other in the past, and now is time to perhaps focus on creating more memories and less on tangible things. Instead of spending money towards another item of clothing or jewelry or gadget, we can put that money towards a weekend getaway, trying a new activity (possibly fulfilling new years resolution #1 as well – hurrah for multi-resolution-ing!)
3. Focus on the big picture
Don’t let small petty things get in the way. Let go of stupid little things and always focus on the big picture – why we’re together and why we love each other
4. More family time
Spend more time with each other’s families and get to know each other
As for personal resolutions I know that Sharon wanted to stop swearing as much and I am finally going to focus my efforts and learn how to design and create my very own videogame.
Does anyone else have interesting resolutions for this year?
