The way to a girl’s heart is with a bow and arrow | Sharon
I got the best surprise today! I woke up, checked my email, and got an email that said: You have been selected for the Hunger Games.
For those of you who don’t know, the Hunger Games is a trilogy of books that talks about Katniss Everdeen, who is chosen to represent her district in her nation’s Hunger Games, where a boy and girl under the age of 18 from each of the 12 districts are chosen and placed into an arena full dangerous obstacles and must fight to the death. Katniss is highly skilled using the bow and arrow – how awesome right? Anyways, the books. are. EPIC. I’ve been raving about them for the past couple of weeks and the Hunger Games movie will be playing in theatres next month and I’m so excited it’s not even funny. Here’s the thing about me: For some strange reason, I have a strong affinity towards movies where the main character fights for something she believes in, especially when they use bows and arrows (Avatar, anyone?) As a result, I am convinced that I too can be a hero and use bows and arrows as well. I went through a similar phase when I was obsessed with spy shoes and was convinced I could be a spy. Which I am. Obviously.
So back to the best surprise ever. In that email, Steve surprised me with introductory archery and fencing lessons, a shopping trip to look good as I “represent my district”, and then tickets to see the IMAX movie on opening weekend! I was so excited I wanted to laugh and cry and pee my pants at the same time.
This post isn’t about my amazing surprise, but more about remembering to take time to be creative in your relationship. Whether you’ve been together for a week, 6 months, 2 years, 5 years, or 10 years, it’s always important to never forget to be creative. Take the time to romance the one you love, to do something special and different to show them you care, and to think outside of the box to spice things up. Regardless of how long you have been together, don’t let yourself get comfortable and get stuck in a rut or a routine. Always date as if it was your first date, always try to keep impressing each other, and always remember that being creative is key to keeping the romance alive.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go shoot some arrows with the love of my life.
Until next time,
